Silver Smithing Class (Level 1)
This class introduces you to the fundamentals of basic metal smithing. You'll receive a cabochon and learn to create your own ring using essential metal smithing techniques, including soldering, polishing, and stone setting.
An information packet will be sent out one week before the class begins. We strongly encourage you to review this material in advance to ensure a smoother learning experience.
Upon completing the course, you'll earn the Metal smithing Certification, granting you access to the metal smithing equipment during our Open Studio Time.
Enrollment in this course includes 5 hours of studio time, which you can use at your convenience.
Materials Needed: (These items can also be purchased from our studio for a small fee.)
· 5/8” Sterling Silver Strip, Dead Soft (4-Inches). Rio Grande Item # 110673
· Silver Sheet Solder, 30 Guage, Hard. Rio Grande Item #101702 (1-Inch)
· Mounted Sandpaper Cartridge roll, 220 Grit. Rio Grande #337060
· Laser Gold #3/0 Jeweler Saw Blades (12 Pack). Rio Grande #110305
· N95/KN95 Face Mask (Available at Leadville Ace Hardware)
· 1–2 small containers for your scrap silver
· 1 old tea-towel/t-shirt scrap for polishing (no terrycloth)
· Notebook/pen/pencils for taking notes
· Fine point Sharpie marker
· Eye Protection
· Apron or Old Clothes
